Why are People Getting Fatter and Fatter?

by on 2009/04/28

All around the world, people are getting fatter and fatter. Even the nations that never before had to worry about obesity, such as China, Japan and even Korea, are now seeing an epidemic. It seems that nobody is safe from the ever expanding waistline. What is causing the human race to get so fat? It’s an easy answer: deficient nutrition. We are not just eating inadequate nutrition, but are also eating too much at the wrong times. Since fast food drive-thrus are literally everywhere, individual serving sizes are consistently increasing, and even the foods offered on the market are being laced with sugar, fat, and chemical preservatives, it’s not hard to see why we have to buy bigger sized pants every year. There is a solution, however, and it can only come from nutrition knowledge.

Food Is Fuel

These days it is all about the taste of our food and how much we can consume, and we have forgotten that it is meant as an energy source. Food gives us the energy we need to get through our days. When we have too much fuel, it gets stored as fat. Spite and revenge are not the reasons our bodies pack on the weight. Storing fat is simply a natural function of the human body.Without fat our bodies would not be able to stay warm in cold conditions, and it also insulates our bones, muscles, and organs. It is also a way of preventing starvation. When we overeat and the excess calories are not burned off through exercise, they are stored in the fat cells for later use. Due to the huge portion sizes we consume today, our fat cells are expanding rapidly.

The Key is Balance

Balanced nutrition is the solution. You don't have to give up your favorite foods, treats and desserts. The trick is to work them into a healthy diet so your weight stays in control. Focus your daily meals on fresh fruits, veggies, and lean meats and proper nutrition supplements such as vitamins are essential. Your favorite desserts should be a prize at the end of the week for feeding yourself proper nutrition the rest of the time. As long as you are burning the extra calories off through a consistent exercise program, you can maintain a trim waistline and have a little treat once, maybe even twice a week.

If You Have a Weight Problem

If you are struggling to take off the extra weight, you will not find permanent success until you start feeding your body the nutrition it needs and start a regular exercise program. If you can commit to taking in the nutrition your body needs, splitting your calories up into five or six smaller meals a day, and getting around thirty minutes of exercise 3-5 days each week, you will notice your fat cells shrinking faster than expected. Losing weight does take some consistent work, but there is no easy way around it.It does take work. If exercise scares you, relax because it doesn’t have to be super intense like you see in all the infomercials and commercials all over the TV. If you are sticking to a diet with balanced nutrition, simply walking around the neighborhood after dinner each night will burn off enough calories to produce weight loss.
